Kitchener: Only as strong as the communities that sustain it.
Actor Jeff Bridges once said, "The way to change the world is through individual responsibility and taking local action in your own community". Our communities here in Kitchener prove the truth of that statement. Without the hard work and dedication of community individuals Kitchener could not survive. People are our city's greatest resource, and all elected representatives must do everything possible to make sure that healthy two-way win-win conversations and actionable consultations are the ongoing standard we can all count on.
Focusing on the Positive
In amongst the news recently, we learned that the City of Kitchener earned national honours for ‘Love My Hood’ . If you haven't, take some time to take a look through the website.
Love My Hood vision encourages and helps residents take the lead in shaping their neighbourhood. After all who knows a neighbourhood better than the people who live there?
I invite you to read through the Status of Kitchener Neighbourhoods 2017 Report pdf for incredible insight about how our communities and neighbours view -- well pretty much everything! From accessibility to engagement, and from grant information to future considerations. Best all all -- you can browse through the content in a ward specific context and as well as the big picture. With municipal elections just around the corner, what better time to explore what the city, individual wards, and communities have been doing?
Our municipal election advance polls start October 10th, and e-day is October 22. I sincerely do hope you will take a look -- and then contact me with your feedback and thoughts. This single report can easily launch a thousand conversations and innovation ideas.
